FRANCISCAN GARDENS WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY | JENNY AND JOHNSON
Jenny and Johnson’s rainy day wedding in San Juan Capistrano was BEYOND gorgeous! I was honored when they reached out to me for their Franciscan Gardens Wedding Photography. Johnson’s groomsman and I had actually played co-ed softball together the year before.
They braved a rainy forecast and a dwindling guest list due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. However, this couple did not let any of this get them down. Jenny and Johnson are just the coolest, most romantic people and I’m crossing my fingers that they want to hang out in “real life” haha ;).
The vision for the wedding day was a celebration of love and then a giant dance party/rager! I love that and, let me tell you, it was everything they’d hoped for and more!
Most of the wedding day was at Franciscan Gardens, but we were able to sneak off to the San Juan Capistrano Mission for their wedding party and some amazing pre-ceremony portraits of the two of them! Talk about the most epic backdrop and hooooolyyyy cow you guys! I can’t get over how stunning the photos came out! Even with the rain! Thankfully, the couple purchased enough clear umbrellas the week before for their entire wedding party. I can’t recommend them enough!! Clear umbrellas are the least distracting and still perform their original purpose. Win/win!
TEA CEREMONY
Franciscan Gardens is actually perfectly positioned for a traditional tea ceremony. The groom and bride dressing areas are just across the hallway from one another, making it easy for the couple to visit with both sets of parents. A Chinese tea ceremony is conducted on the day of the wedding and sees the bride and groom serve tea to their parents, in-laws, and other family members. Symbolizing the union of two families, it is a meaningful part of the day, typically taking place inside the couple’s respective family homes.
